Jeremy
A Hero WOD after some strength work is normally unheard of, but “Jeremy” is unlike most heros in that it can be completed quickly without turning into a slog. We saw some interesting results, with some people crushing the workout where others had some unexpected difficulty. What was your experience? Post to comments!
Strength WOD
Deadlifts
5 - 5 - 5
then
Jeremy
For time, 21 - 15 - 9 reps of:
- Overhead Squats (95 / 65)
- Burpees
Cutoff is 12 minutes.
Scaling option 1: Scale the weight used in the OHS.
Scaling option 2: 15 - 2 - 6 reps, and scale weight if needed.

Is slog defined as over 10 minutes?
I personally define “slog” as “over 30 minutes.”
OK…MAYBE over 20 minutes. Depends on the intensity level and the movements.
There is no EXACT definition for slog but it is where power output and intensity wane considerably and people begin to trudge through a workout rather than power through. Generally above 20 minutes begins to enter slog territory. Once we are at 25 to 30 we are pretty solidly there.
Although then again it does really depend upon the time domain of the workout. If I did Fran and it took me 20 minutes that would definitely be a slog. So in reality it’s about the intensity level.
Last thought which I think is important to say: When we give cutoff times it’s because we feel anything above that time for that WOD will start to be a slog. If it turns into a slog it’s usually because we didn’t scale appropriately. If you can keep intensity with a given weight for that WOD then you are on the right track.
Without the cutoff time and the SWOD in the same session, I would probably not have scaled the workout and finished in 15-20 mins. Seeing some CFSP athletes pushing 6 mins on the workout, rx’d, makes me reconsider my intensity level, and the definition of a “slog”.
Speaking of slogs what do you say we throw a barbell complex in the mix
Good idea, Bill!
I nominate Bear Complex or “Team Bear Complex”.
Absolutely - One of those is already on the schedule.
NICE!!!
